The cause of a fire at a vacant house in Buford remains undetermined.
The fire occurred Friday evening, March 3, in the 2000 block of Appling Circle NE. A minor who lives in a residence nearby called 911 to report the house was ablaze. The 911 call taker could hear explosions and popping sounds in the background of the call.
The fire was brought under control by 6:09 p.m., according Capt. Ryan McGiboney, public information officer for to Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services.
The homeowner arrived while crews were on site and confirmed that the house was vacant. He said the residence is an ongoing project and has been vacant for the past several weeks.
Fire equipment and personnel dispatched to the scene included three engines, one ladder truck, one squad, a med unit, one command staff unit, one air and light unit, a fire investigator and a public information officer.
