October brings fall weather with a chill in the air, that’s perfect for the spookiness of Halloween. The North Gwinnett Voice has compiled a list of activities and events, from community, kid-friendly outings to scary fun and ongoing attractions. Get out and about this Halloween season!

COMMUNITY EVENTS 

Trick or Treat on West Broad Street with “Hotel Transylvania” to follow

  • When: Beginning at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 25, 2024
  • Where: Downtown Sugar Hill on West Broad Street
  • Details: Community groups and businesses will hand out candy beginning at 5:30 p.m. along West Broad Street, and attendees are invited to wear costumes and bring bags to collect candy. Trick-or-treating will be followed by a 7:30 p.m. showing of “Hotel Transylvania” at The Bowl. Parking will be available on the open portion of West Broad Street, Church Street, Hillcrest Drive, Solis and the E Center and city hall parking decks.

Halloween PathParade & Carnival 

  • When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024
  • Where: Parade begins at S&S Ace Hardware, 3740 Village Way in Braselton, and the carnival will take place at Primrose School of Braselton, 2711 Old Winder Highway
  • Details: Starting at 10 a.m., the festive PathParade will travel along the LifePath (sidewalk along Ga. Highway 211) beginning at Ace Hardware and turning right onto Mulberry, heading toward 12 Stone and Primrose School of Braselton. The carnival begins after the parade.

Dinner and a BOOvie  

  • When: 5 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024
  • Where: Suwanee Town Center Park
  • Details: Dinner and a BOOvie includes trick-or-treating along Town Center Avenue merchant storefronts, inflatables and games for children, food trucks and sweets, along with a double-feature — “Monsters Inc.” starting at 6:30 p.m. and “The Haunted Mansion” showing at 8:15 p.m. Attendees are invited to wear costumes and bring blankets and chairs to enjoy the outdoor event. Food, to-go beverages, and more will be available for purchase. The following businesses will participate in trick-or-treating: Big Peach Running Company, Rita’s Italian Ice, Dress Up, Skye, Make(r), Brown Bag Deli, Tequila Mama, Suwanee Arts Center, Ensemble, 9Round, Cafe Amico, Suzy’s, Mellow Mushroom and Planet Smoothie.

SCARY FUN

Haunted Lake Lanier Experience 

  • When: Through Oct. 31, with 7 p.m. departures Monday through Thursday and Sundays and 6:30 and 9 p.m. departures Fridays and Saturdays
  • Where: 6800 Lights Ferry Road in Flowery Branch,
  • Details: A two-hour, immersive experience boating along the waters of Lake Lanier that combines history and tales of paranormal sightings with an authentic interactive ghost hunt on an isolated island using professional ghost hunting equipment. Refreshments and snacks provided. Participants must be 13 and older with those younger than 18 accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Aurora Theatre presents Lawrenceville Ghost Tours

  • When: Through Oct. 27 — 7 and 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 7:30 p.m. Sundays; Oct. 30-Nov. 3 — 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday and 7 and 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday
  • Where: Downtown Lawrenceville beginning at the Lawrenceville Arts Center, 128 E. Pike St.
  • Details: A storyteller takes guests on a stroll through the oldest city in Gwinnett County. The one-mile tours are approximately 90 minutes and are limited to 25 people.

Netherworld 

  • When: Oct. 3-6, 9-14, 16-20 and 22-31 with hours varying by night
  • Where: 1313 Netherworld Way in Stone Mountain
  • Details: In its 28 season, Netherworld offers two walk-through haunted houses — Wake the Dead and Mr. Grendel’s Birthday Party of Horrors — as well as five escape rooms.

Buford Corn Maze

Compton Bell Farms

  • When: 2 to 10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays
  • Where: 5351 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford
  • Details: Compton Bell Farms’ fall attrations include a corn maze, wagon rides, a cow train, jumping pillows, a kids’ maze, a 150-feet super megaslide and other children’s activities, as well as food trucks on Saturdays and Sundays
