As Gwinnett Parks and Recreation celebrates National Parks and Recreation Month, two events are planned at local parks.
A free Splash Play Day will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Friday, July 21, at E. E. Robinson Park, 650 Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in Sugar Hill, where participants can enjoy splash pad fun with summer games, ice pops and a water slide.
The program Growing Together will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, July 22, at Bogan Park, 2723 N. Bogan Road in Buford, where experienced gardeners will show attendees how to grow and care for plants. This program costs $12 for Gwinnett County residents and $18 for non-residents, which includes refreshments and supplies.
Those who plan to attend are encouraged to register for each event, as Splash Play Day will accommodate a maximum of 200 attendees, and Growing Together will be limited to 30 participants.
The 2023 theme for National Parks and Recreation Month is “Where Community Grows,” which highlights the role of parks and recreation in fostering stronger, more vibrant and more resilient communities, according to Gwinnett Parks and Recreation, a finalist for the National Recreation and Park Association’s National Gold Medal Award, which honors public park and recreation agencies and state park systems throughout the nation that demonstrate excellence in long-range planning, resource management and innovative approaches to delivering superb park and recreation services with fiscally sound business practices.
