Coloring for a Cause

A very well drawn picture of Medusa graces the cover of the 2nd volume of the BHS NAHS Coloring Book.

By Alicia Couch Payne

One of the coolest and most original fundraisers in the area has returned for the second year. The Buford High School National Art Honor Society first produced a coloring book full of original works of art by the student members of NAHS last year. The project was a success so NAHS sponsor, Mrs. Kim Barge decided to bring it back for the second year.

In the coloring book’s first year, BHS NAHS sold 63 books resulting in $630 raised. The money raised went to help fund scholarships that were awarded to NAHS members. The recipients of last year’s scholarships were Madison McManners, Savannah Klem, and Ansley Brown.

This year the NAHS hopes to sell 100 coloring books. This year’s book has 20 original works of art from the students. Inside this volume, one will find Medusa, a mermaid, a wolf, a fish, flowers, dogs, and more. Each piece is well done and shows a lot of creativity.

A copy will go down in history, the Museum of Buford history to be exact. Copies of Volume 1 and 2 reside in their archives. A job well done to the student artists of the NAHS at Buford High School!
