On Saturday, April 4, 2020, the Georgia Department of Public Health said that the number of COVID-19 positive cases in the state has risen to 6,160. That is an increase of 329 cases since yesterday at noon. The number of people hospitalized with the virus is 1,239. The state reports that 201 people have now lost their lives due to the novel coronavirus.
The breakdown of females to males with COVID-19 remains unchanged since yesterday. Females comprise 52%, males with 46%, and 2% are unknown. The 18-59 age group continues to lead those with a positive diagnosis at 59%. The over 60 group makes up 36%, under 18 is still at 1%, and 4% is unknown.
Number of Confirmed COVID-19 Cases by County
Gwinnett’s numbers have increased by 35 over the past 24 hours to 364. The death toll remains unchanged at eight. Fulton now has 941 confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 26 deaths while Dougherty has 636 with 30 deaths. Dekalb is seeing 500 confirmed cases and eight deaths. Cobb is the fourth highest county with 428 with 20 deaths. Counties that have been heavily impacted or are nearby are Clayton 224, Bartow 160, Hall 84, Barrow 22, and Jackson 13.
The CDC does not receive accurate numbers over the weekend and their next credible report is on Monday at noon.
The World Health Organization shows that the world has hit the 1 million infected mark. The number of those who have tested positive for COVID-19 is at 1,051,635 with 56,985 people who lost their lives due to the virus.
