Gwinnett County is accepting applications for homestead exemptions for 2022 through Friday, April 1.
A homestead exemption reduces the amount of property taxes homeowners owe on their residences.
All Gwinnett County homeowners who live in the homes they own, seniors age 62 and older, disabled homeowners and surviving spouses of military, peace officers or firefighters killed in the line of duty who have not remarried are encouraged to apply.
The Gwinnett County Tax Commissioners’ website notes, “If in doubt about whether or not you qualify, contact us for clarification. Rather than disqualify yourself, apply by April 1 to ensure we can help you determine eligibility for the current year.”

Homeowners who already have a homestead exemption do not need to reapply.
