District 4 commissioner named to leadership positions with National Association of Counties

Gwinnett County District 4 Commissioner Marlene Fosque has been appointed to leadership positions with the National Association of Counties, or NACo.

Newly elected NACo President Denise Winfrey has named Fosque vice-chair of the International Economic Development Task Force; subcommittee vice-chair of the Transportation Steering Committee’s Transit/Rail Subcommittee; and a member of the Large Urban County Caucus.

Fosque was first elected to the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners District 4 seat in November 2018.

District 4 includes Lawrenceville, Buford and Rest Haven, as well as parts of Braselton and Sugar Hill.

Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners Chairwoman Nicole Hendrickson was also named subcommittee vice-chair of the Community, Economic and Workforce Development Steering Committee, which focuses on housing. Hendrickson is also a member of the Large Urban County Caucus.

“The appointment by President Winfrey is humbling and an incredible honor,” Hendrickson said. “As these appointments help solidify Gwinnett County’s place on the national stage, I am guided by my commitment to our residents, employees and visitors who set us apart in how we operate.”

Winfrey said she chose Hendrickson and Fosque for these appointments because of their talent, commitment and forward-thinking leadership.
