Staff Reports – (Buford) – Officers assigned to the Gwinnett County Police Department’s North Precinct were dispatched to a domestic dispute at around 10:30 a.m. Authorities reported that the complainant asked officers to meet him at a convenience store at Thompson Mill Road and Pebblebrook Drive in Buford, saying he wanted to report an incident involving his daughter and her boyfriend, 19-year-old Nathan Workman.
While officers were talking with the man about Workman, the county’s 911 call center received a call from the home where Workman lives. According to Gwinnett County Police Department Cpl. Michele Pihera, the complainant told the 911 call-taker that Workman was inside the home armed with a gun threatening to shoot law enforcement officers and possibly commit suicide.
Officers were able to get all family members out of the home. The SWAT team was activated, and at approximately 1:30 p.m., Workman was arrested without incident.
Cpl. Pihera said Workman had at least three active warrants for his arrest. One warrant was for motor vehicle theft. He may also face additional charges relating to today’s incident.
