Driver dies after car crashes into mobile home in Buford

The driver of a car traveling along Horizon Parkway in the Countryside Village of Gwinnett neighborhood in Buford died from injuries he sustained when he drove his car into a mobile home on Sunday night, Feb. 5.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, the driver, identified as Jordan Gonzalez, 36 was driving west on Horizon Parkway approaching the intersection with Boulder Way. Gonzalez failed to maintain his lane and went off the roadway into the front yard of 13 Boulder Way. At that time Gonzalez struck a tree and the debris from the vehicle and tree struck three other vehicles that were in the driveway of 1 Boulder Way. The vehicle Gonzalez was in continued a westward path striking the mobile home at 1 Boulder Way.

Three people inside of the home at 1 Boulder Way were injured as a result of Gonzalez striking the home and were sent to a local hospital.

“Jordan died from injuries sustained at some point during the collision sequence,” Hideshi Valle, a public information officer with the Gwinnett County Police Department said in a written statement.

His next of kin was notified at the scene of the accident.

The accident is being investigated by the Accident Investigation Unit. Their preliminary investigation cites Gonzalez’s failure to maintain his lane and leaving the roadway as the cause of the accident.
