BUFORD — On Monday, two big announcements were released about the future of the Mall of Georgia. The biggest news coming out of the mall is a joint venture between Simon Property Group, the commercial real estate company that owns the Mall of Georgia and Allied Esports, a global esports entertainment company. The Mall of Georgia will be the first location that will see the joint efforts of the two companies.
They will open a large esports venue at the Mall of Georgia. The venue is going to be a two-level, 13,000-square-foot facility located in The Village. The two companies are touting the new venue as “a gaming and esports destination for players and community members of all levels.”
In the statement released on Monday, they said, “As part of the Allied Esports Property Network, the venue will feature regular amateur and professional esports tournaments and events across a variety of games and genres.” The Mall of Georgia location will have full broadcast and streaming capabilities and will offer PCs and consoles available for daily use. The location will also have food and beverage options, as well as, experiential retail or a retail store that strives to really give customers an engaging, full sensory experience.
The development of this venue is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2020. The joint venture expects to be open in the second half of this year.
Also coming to the Mall of Georgia is a new food option. A Canadian crepe chain announced plans to open a cafe at the mall. The chain called Crepe Delicious Urban Cafe which was founded in 2004. The chain has more than 30 locations in Canada and three here in the United States. The crepe chain has not announced a timeline for the completion of its Mall of Georgia location.
Crepe Delicious Urban Cafe bills themselves as “healthy eating for people on to go.” Diners will have numerous options to fill their crepes from savory to sweet. They have savory options like the chicken caesar, the Mediterranean, the California chicken among others. If the sweet side is more your thing, try a chocolate crepe, caramel apple, S’mores, crepes filled with fruit, chocolate, and whipped cream, and more.
Simon Property Group is constantly on the lookout for new experiences for its customers. They try hard to keep the Mall of Georgia relevant and the shopping destination for the Southeast.
