The Gwinnett County Police Department Accident Investigation Unit is probing into a fatal accident in Lawrenceville which killed three individuals.
Around 7:00 p.m. on Dec. 7, Bay Creek Precinct officers were sent to the scene of a collision between a silver Kia Sorento and a white Yamaha motorcycle on Scenic Highway and Scenic Pines Drive in Lawrenceville.
The Kia Sorento, occupied by three individuals, was headed northbound on Scenic Highway and getting ready to make a left turn on Scenic Pines Drive. The motorcyclist was coming southbound on Scenic Highway.
Initial investigations revealed the driver of the Kia was turning left in the pathway of the motorcyclist when the accident occurred.
Fatalities include a 37-year-old mother of Loganville and her 14-year old son. Her 9-year-old son was transported to the hospital.
The motorcyclist, a 27-year-old Snellville man, also died as a result of his injuries.
Both vehicles have been impounded to the GCPD headquarters as the investigation continues.
It is not clear at this time which driver was at fault. Driver speed was thought to play a role in the deadly conditions.
