BUFORD — A fatal collision on Interstate 85 this afternoon has blocked northbound lanes on the interstate and has claimed the life of a child.
The accident involving a commercial truck and a car occurred Wednesday, Dec. 1, south of the Chateau Elan exit, between Flowery Branch Road and State Route 211. The Georgia Department of Transportation closed all lanes of the interstate at 2:11 p.m. and estimated roads should be reopened at 8 p.m., according to 511ga.org.
The Gwinnett County Police Department is diverting all traffic off the interstate onto Hamilton Mill Road. Drivers are advised to choose an alternate route such as Ga. Highway 124 or I-985.
