SUWANEE – All southbound lanes and at least one northbound lane on Interstate 85 in Suwanee was closed on Saturday afternoon following a fatal motorcycle accident.
According to the Suwanee Police Department, a motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed in the northbound lanes of Interstate 85 near Exit 111 Lawrenceville Suwanee Road when it crashed into the back of a SUV. The motorcycle then went over the wall into the southbound lanes.
The wreck closed all southbound lanes and at least one northbound lane of the interstate for hours on Saturday afternoon. Traffic backed up for miles on Interstate 85 and Interstate 985.
All lanes have since reopened.
The driver of the motorcycle, whose identity has yet to be released was the only fatality.
No additional details have been released.
