Following classes on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at West Hall High School, the School Resource Officer responded to a fight that broke out in front of the school. The fight involved six female students. All of the students involved are juveniles (age 16 or younger).
The School Resource Officer and school faculty intervened to break up the fight. While the deputy and staff were breaking up the fight, one female intentionally struck the deputy in the face. Another girl intentionally struck a school official several times in the chest as well.
All six female students were charged with affray or fighting. The one female student who struck the deputy will face an additional charge of felony obstruction while the other female student who struck the school official faces an additional charge of simple battery.
All six girls were released into the custody of their parents, with a complaint pending in juvenile court.
