BUFORD — The Gwinnett County Fire Department responded to a house fire at the corner of Kennesaw Street and West Moreno Street in “Old Town” Buford.  At least half a dozen units responded to the blaze at approximately 11:15 p.m.  When firefighters arrived at the house at 382 West Moreno Street, it was fully engulfed in flames.

No one was home at the time of the fire but it is believed that the resident’s small dog perished in the fire.

The home was under renovation and the property owners recently invested a substantial amount of money into the home. The home appears to be a total loss.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
