Former Buford star running back Anthony Grant is headed to the National Football League.
After falling short of being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft, Grant told The North Gwinnett Voice that he has signed a rookie minicamp deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Tampa Bay also selected Oregon running back Bucky Irving in the fourth round of the draft.
“It feels great,” Grant said. “This was most definitely a dream (to sign with an NFL team).”
Grant, out of Nebraska, recorded 1,328 yards and nine total touchdowns in three seasons with the Cornhuskers. He opted to declare for the draft instead of return to college after the 2023 season.
Grant originally enrolled at Florida State in 2018 before transferring to Nebraska. He was a three-star recruit, according to 247Sports.
Grant is the first Buford player to make it to the NFL since Joshua Blackwell, who enters his third season as a defensive back with the Chicago Bears.
