HOSCHTON — The Lady Wolves softball team traveled to Mill Creek High School on Wednesday afternoon to participate in the Hawk/Bulldog Tournament. Buford was due to play two games on Wednesday but the second game against South Forsyth was canceled due to an impending storm in the area. Buford took home the win against Jackson County with a score of 10-5. The game was called in the 5th inning due to tournament time limits.
Freshman pitcher Olivia Duncan gets her first varsity win against Jackson County. She was on the mound for 2.3 innings where she had four hits, five runs (all earned), one strikeout, and two walks. Senior pitcher Kaitlyn Pickens picks up the save with 2.6 innings on the mound for Buford.
Offensively, sophomore Taylor Malvin was strong for the Lady Wolves going two for three, earning three RBIs, and one run scored. Senior Ansleigh Hollifield also went two for three, hit a double, and earned two RBIs. Hitting two for two was junior Emi Hall who hit two for two, earned one RBI and scored two runs. Rounding out the offensive standouts for Buford was freshman Emma Castorri. Castorri went one for three, hit a double, and earned two RBIs.
This puts Buford’s season record at 3-2. Buford will make up the game against South Forsyth on Thursday, August 15 at 6 p.m. at the University of North Georgia in Dahlonega.
