Leonel Engelbert Leal, 27, of Gainesville was arrested on December 12, 2019, for aggravated battery by the Hall County Sheriff’s Office. This arrest was a result of a disagreement between two residents at a home in the 3000 block of Del Rio Drive. The victim was reported having injuries to both his jaw and scalp.

Leal was booked into the Hall County Jail and released for a $5,700 bond on December 13.
The Sheriff’s Office investigators obtained a search warrant for Leal’s phone in late December to obtain the recorded video of the battery incident. In a recently completed forensic analysis of his phone, investigators found at least three sexually explicit videos of a minor.
On Monday, March 23, 2020, Hall County Sheriff’s Office investigators obtained a warrant for Leal’s arrest. The Hall County Sheriff’s Office Warrants Unit Deputies arrested Leal at his residence in the 4000 block of Martin Road on Monday afternoon. The man now faces three counts of sexual exploitation of children.
Leal remained in the Hall County Jail as of Tuesday afternoon, March 24.
