Gainesville’s Maria Gomez-Perez has been safely found

After nearly two months since Maria Perez-Gomez of Gainesville went missing, the Hall County Sheriffs Office reported Thursday night around 10:45 p.m. that she has been safely found.

The search for Gomez-Perez had been highly publicized and spanned many states. The release by the sheriffs’ office said that Gomez-Perez was found in another state, which was not named.

“The tireless work of the CIB (Criminal Investigations Bureau), law enforcement partners and community resulted in the best possible outcome,” Hall County sheriff Gerald Couch said in the release. “Our prayers for Maria’s safe return have been answered.”

Gomez-Perez, 12, is reported as OK. Law enforcement officials are working on her return to Hall County.

Gomez-Perez had been missing since May 29, last seen in a blue shirt at her home on Westside Drive.

Hall County will continue to work towards the circumstances of her disappearance, the report said.
