A year-long investigation conducted by the Gwinnett County Police Department’s gang unit has resulted in a 210-count indictment handed down against 26 defendants.
All but one of the defendants have been apprehended, but GCPD needs the public’s help in locating Khari Kelley of Decatur. Kelley, 22, also known by the name RX Yano, has an active felony warrant and his whereabouts are unknown. Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477) or visit www.stopcrimeATL.com. Tipsters can receive a cash reward for information leading to an arrest in this case.
According to GCPD, the investigation began in August 2021 when reports of gunfire off Boggs Road in Duluth led police to the discovery of suspected rival gang activity in the area. The violence between “Blixtz” and “56 Gang” resulted in the death of 18-year-old Jeremiah Pretto of Duluth, police said, adding alleged members were tied to numerous other crimes in the area, including carjackings, armed robberies, and aggravated assaults.
More violent cases were added to charges in December 2021, when the investigation developed into a RICO investigation against “56 Gang.” Several accused members of “56 Gang” and accused members of another local gang called “Drug Rixh” were charged in connection with those crimes.
In January, the accused leaders and accused members of both gangs were indicted on 210 counts that include violating the RICO Act, the Gang Act, felony murder, malice murder, hijacking, armed robbery, terroristic threats, aggravated assault, weapons charges, among additional charges.
“Violence and criminal street gang activity affect our families, schools, and communities,” the GCPD stated in a news release. “Any violence and criminal street gang activity that harms our citizens’ and visitors’ safety and quality of life is unacceptable. Anyone who participates in acts of violence or criminal street gang activity will be arrested, charged, prosecuted, and held accountable for their actions.”
