Jadon Perlotte, a top prospect from Buford High School, announced his decision to verbally commit to the University of Georgia during a live press conference held at his home Thursday afternoon, Dec. 8.
Perlotte is the No. 4 linebacker prospect out of the Class of 2025 nationally, according to 247 Sports.
The 6-foot-4, 215-pound sophomore has received 29 college offers thus far in his high school football career. A few of the most notable of his offers were from Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, Auburn, Florida, Georgia Tech, Ole Miss and Tennessee.
Georgia offered for Perlotte in May and he has been on several visits to Athens, including the Tennessee and Georgia Tech games this season. He attended the Oregon season-opener held at Mercedes Benz Stadium as well.
“UGAs culture is more different than any other school! Instead of Me Me, it’s about (FAMILY) FORGET ABOUT ME I LOVE YOU! Growing up at Buford this is engrained in the culture from GFL (Gwinnett Football League) to high school and the same is what coach Smart has cultured at Georgia!” said Pelotte on why he picked Georgia over all the other schools that made offers to him.
His family is very supportive of his decision to play at Georgia.
“He’s grown up being a huge Bulldog fan and seeing Ringo’s interception to seal the Natty he teary eyed looked at me and said dad, ‘I hope to play there one day,'” said Kenny Perlotte, Jadon’s father. “For him to go on and commit tells me that’s where he wants to be!”
Perlotte made big plays for the Buford Wolves this season as he stepped up into starting rotation at linebacker wearing the No. 43 jersey that was worn in the past by Malik Spencer who is currently at Michigan State. During his sophomore season, he had 24 solo tackles, 19 assists, 2.5 sacks, four pass break ups, two interceptions, four tackles for loss and two QB pressures. He sustained an injury late in the season that prevented him from playing in the games against Central Gwinnett, Mountain View and Peachtree Ridge.
Football has been Perlotte’s passion since he started playing at the age of 6 for Buford as part of the Gwinnett Football League. He continued playing for Buford through the GFL all the way through eighth grade and was even part of the GFL team that won the FBU National Championship game during his seventh grade year.
