Gwinnett County is accepting applications for its Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy now through Wednesday, Mar. 1, 2023.
The Gwinnett 101 Citizens Academy is a behind the scenes look into how the county’s government works and what services it provides. The 12-week course is offered twice a year and allows those selected to participate an insider look at county operations, meet local leaders and tour county facilities.
The county’s goal in offering the citizens academy is “develop and nurture informed and engaged residents, students, and business owners in our great county.”
To be considered for the citizens academy, applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be a resident and/or business owner in Gwinnett, or attend a Gwinnett college or university
- Have an interest in learning about county government
- Attend all sessions (Maximum of two excused absences with make-up during the next session). Participants are required to attend orientation and graduation
- Due to the limited slots, only one applicant per household is allowed
