The Gwinnett County Police Department is helping to address food insecurity for area residents through a food drive.
The department’s police records unit has partnered with Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church Food Pantry to collect food for residents in need this holiday season.
Donations for the food drive can be dropped off in collection boxes through Monday, Dec. 13, at the Gwinnett Police Headquarters at 770 Hi Hope Road in Lawrenceville and all police precinct lobbies. The north precinct is located at 2735 Mall of Georgia Boulevard in Buford and is closed for lunch from noon to 1 p.m. The north precinct closes at 4 p.m. weekdays.
The following items are being accepted:
- Canned proteins, including chicken, tuna and spaghetti sauce with meat
- Canned chili and pasta
- Canned soup
- Peanut butter
- Cereal
- Canned fruit and vegetables
- Bottled condiments
- Cooking oil
- Baby wipes
- Toilet paper
All donations will be gathered and delivered to Hamilton Mill United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Dec. 15, to prepare for holiday meal boxes. For more information on the church’s food pantry, click here.
