Gwinnett to honor Veterans on Tuesday

UPDATE: To ensure the comfort and safety of attendees, the Veterans Day ceremony and Stand Down event will now be held indoors at the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center auditorium, 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville. Guests are asked to enter through the front entrance of the building.

LAWRENCEVILLE — Gwinnett County will honor the men and women who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces during its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Tuesday, Nov. 11, at the Fallen Heroes Memorial in Lawrenceville.

The ceremony begins at 11 a.m. and will feature remarks from county officials and local veterans, a presentation of colors, and a moment of reflection to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice. For those unable to attend in person, the event will be streamed live on the county’s Facebook page.

Following the ceremony, attendees are invited to stay for the Stand Down event from noon to 2 p.m. The event connects veterans and their families with local organizations offering services and resources, including employment assistance, health care information, and support programs.

The annual ceremony at the Fallen Heroes Memorial has become a community tradition, providing residents an opportunity to express gratitude and reflect on the sacrifices of service members from Gwinnett and beyond. The memorial, located at 75 Langley Drive, honors Gwinnett residents who lost their lives in military service.

Officials encourage those planning to attend to dress warmly, as chilly weather is expected.
