The Atlanta Havoc held their Youth Night where anyone sixteen and younger got into the Buford Arena for free on Saturday, March 31st.  The Havoc played host to the Triangle Torch from North Carolina. Having previously beaten their first two opponents, the Florida Tarpons and the Georgia Doom.

In the first half, Atlanta fell behind and Havoc head coach Gerald “Boo” Mitchell said his team “underestimated the Torch, and we got away from playing good, sound, fundamental FOOTBALL!” The team wasn’t playing defensively and the offense was struggling.  The offensive line allowed Havoc quarterback, Michael Eubank to be sacked by the Torch.

I told them not to panic and to JUST PLAY FOOTBALL!

The second half saw the Havoc come alive and they were able to rally to ultimately defeat the Torch 35 to 20. Martell Moore and Thyron Lewis each caught a pass leading to a touchdown. Ryan McDaniel scored a touchdown catching a pass and going through the wall which was quite a sight to see. The Havoc also had a touchdown from an interception that was picked off by Michaeux Robinson.

When asked what he said to motivate his team, Mitchell said, “I told them not to panic and to JUST PLAY FOOTBALL!”

The Havoc catered to all ages at this game. They hosted a pregame tailgate party where SK Cafe was on hand to satisfy the hungry crowd.  With kids sixteen and under free during this game, the team hosted an Easter egg drop during halftime where the kids were allowed onto the field to scavenge for their loot.  They were also invited to dance with the Havoc dancers. Several contests were also held. After the game, families were encouraged to hang around to get photos and autographs with the players as well as take photos with the Easter bunny.  For the adults, an after party was held at Tannery Row Ale House where the players, coaches, and staff mingled with the fans to celebrate their win.

The Havoc’s next home game will be on April 15th at 4:00 p.m. at the Buford Arena where they will host the Austin Wild.  For more information or tickets, please visit the Havoc website at www.atlantahavoc.com.
