The chances that the Atlanta Havoc having a perfect season are actually looking pretty good as they knock off yet another opponent on Sunday afternoon at the Buford Arena.  The Austin Wild got a taste of this well put together first year team. A taste that was quite hard to swallow as Austin left Buford without ever getting a single point on the scoreboard.

The Havoc started the game with Quarterback Lee Chappel who had a good start by anyone’s measure also had two interceptions.  Chappel threw a touchdown pass to Isaiah Jupiter who played college football at Valdosta State University in south Georgia. Wide Receiver, Martell Moore was also the recipient of a touchdown pass thrown by Chappel. Michael Eubank replaced Chappel as quarterback later in the game having success such as the touchdown pass to Thyron Lewis Sr.  On one play, Eubank was forced to run the ball in himself. Eubank got the touchdown but lost his jersey in the process as an Austin Wild defensive player tried to stop his advance by holding onto Eubank’s jersey in a pitiful attempt to stop Atlanta from scoring yet again. The Havoc’s kicker, Jed Solomon had a phenomenal night hitting each one of his field goal attempts.  He also scored a point on the kickoff.

The defensive line also claimed their share of the glory from Sunday afternoon.  The Havoc defensive line has been on point this season allowing only 97 points scored by the opposition to Atlanta’s 230 points. Not only can they boast that they kept the Wild scoreless but they also contributed to that huge 66 point victory.  Defensive Backs Thyrell Lewis and Micheaux Robinson managed to pick off two interceptions each during the game for Atlanta.

During half time, local educators were honored for their contributions in the classroom.  Frank Bendin from Phoenix High School and Melissa Vitrano from Berkmar High School were presented with Certificates of Appreciation from the Havoc organization.

The Atlanta Havoc has made it a point to be a team that is available to their fans, especially their younger fans.  They remained true to this by once again hanging around after their win on field to take photos, sign autographs, and chat with their fans both young and old.  After a team photo op, many kids who were watching this photo op were then invited to take a photo of their own with the team. You know this was the highlight of their week if not more.

General Manager and Offensive Coordinator, Josh Resignalo feels confident about the Havoc’s performance so far this year.  He said that he plans on getting his team out into the community more to help spread the word about their team and what an awesome show they put on for fans at the Buford Arena.

I must admit to having been the skeptic.  Arena football? The Havoc? Cheesy, boring, and stupid.  NO, I must admit to being wrong. Atlanta, in the world of Arena football has probably the best team in the league and they put on an exciting show week after week.  Many plays end up with a player either getting smashed into the barriers around the field or they are having to jump over them. One player even ended up under the barrier somehow.  The team and the game is high energy and fast paced which is perfect for this attention deficient girl. Although the play on the field is exciting, what I like the most about the games are watching the interaction between the players and the young fans post game.  That’s where memories are being made.

The Atlanta Havoc will be on the road for their April 21st game but will return to the Buford Arena on April 28th to host the Savannah Coastal Outlaws.  To purchase tickets to the game or get more information, please visit www.atlantahavoc.com.  Check them out on Facebook as well for chances to win tickets to their games.
