International Women’s Day seeks to celebrate female achievements, raise awareness of equality

March 8 is a day set aside to celebrate women’s achievements and raise awareness of women’s equality — today is International Women’s Day 2021.

This year’s International Women’s Day theme is #ChooseToChallenge, which encourages individuals to call out gender bias and inequality while celebrating women’s achievements. The #ChooseToChallenge initiative asks supporters to take photos of their “choose to challenge pose” — an image in which an individual raises his or her hand in solidarity with the call to action — and share the photos on social media with the designated hashtags #ChooseToChallege and #IWD2021.

Events are also planned to commemorate International Women’s Day. To find a virtual event to attend, visit https://www.internationalwomensday.com/EventSearch.
