LAWRENCEVILLE — The lead investigator with the Gwinnett County Police Department has filed charges against the driver of a passenger car that struck a motorcyclist who died at the hospital from injuries sustained during the accident.
The accident occurred on March 27 around 6 p.m. at the intersection of Collins Hill Road and Russell Road in unincorporated Lawrenceville.
A Honda Accord, driven by Natalie Merizalde, age 20 of Lawrenceville went to turn left in front of a motorcycle causing the two to collide. The driver of the motorcycle, Robert Boren, age 49 of Suwanee was transported to the hospital where he died of his injuries after he was ejected from his motorcycle. Merizalde nor her passenger were injured in the crash.
Merizalde has been charged with Vehicular Homicide (2nd Degree) and Failure to Yield while Turning Left. According to police, she is aware of the charges against her and is making arrangements to turn herself in.
