GAINESVILLE — A Duluth man was arrested on Tuesday, Mar. 9 for allegedly sending a sexually explicit photo of himself to one of his students.
Investigators with the Hall County Sheriff’s Office took Matthew “Tyler” Stubbs, age 25 of Duluth into custody at the Hall County Sheriff’s Headquarters in Gainesville. Stubbs was charged with one count of electronically furnishing obscene material to a minor.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Stubbs who was a teacher at Flowery Branch High School sent a sexually explicit photo of himself via Snapchat to one of his students, a 16-year-old female on the morning of Saturday, Mar. 6, 2021.
The incident came to light when the victim told a teacher about Stubbs allegedly sending inappropriate messages to her on Tuesday morning. This was the first that the Hall County School District learned of it.
The Hall County School District immediately put Stubbs on leave as the Sheriff’s Office took over the investigation.
A representative with the Hall County School District said that Stubbs was hired as a special education teacher, as well as the head girls’ soccer coach in May 2020.
Stubbs has since been released from the Hall County Jail on bond.
The case remains under investigation.
