Staff Reports
With all the rain we have been having and the various park closures happening on Lake Sidney Lanier, people have been wondering how the current water level (as of February 23, 2019) compares to past water levels. Here’s a list of the highest levels recorded.
1077.15 – Apr. 14th, 1964
1076.20 – Apr. 5th, 1977
1076.05 – Mar. 30th, 1980
1075.99 – Apr. 15th, 1979
1075.75 – Apr. 1st, 1976
1075.62 – Feb. 23rd, 2019 (current reading)
1075.43 – Dec. 31st, 2015
All readings were taken at midnight on the dates shown.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will update their Facebook page for Lake Lanier with the final reading once the water level begins to recede. With a 50-60% chance of rain for much of this next week, that may not be for a while yet.
High water levels force the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to close parks and boat ramps all over Lake Lanier. http://northgwinnett.wpenginepowered.com/high-water-levels-force-closures-on-lake-lanier/
