Over the weekend local baseball team, the Lanier Longhorns 11U baseball team traveled to Covington, Georgia. They competed in the USSSA 11U AAA Five Tool Classic. During the course of the competition, the boys won all four games hitting an average of .500 to become the USSSA 11U AAA Five Tool Classic Champions. In the Championship game, Sheldon Pugh pitched a complete game allowing only one hit. Pugh also added a homerun earlier in the day. Adrian Jimenez and Max Salazar both had 7 RBIs during the four game competition. They have improved to an overall season record of 14-5.
“The boys played well and had a lot of fun. Anytime you outscore your opponents 45-16 over 4 games you are doing something right. I was glad to see we finally started hitting. That has been very inconsistent through the first month. It was a 17 hour day and they still had great energy, super proud of them!” said head coach Jason Diaz.
Their journey proves that perseverance pays off. Never give up. Never give in. Work hard for what you want. Boys – Your community is very proud of you. Keep up that hard work and we will continue to follow your journey.
The Lanier Longhorns 11U team players are Adrian Jimenez, Anthony Dye, Donnie Bryan, Jake Renuart, Joseph Mittiga, Justin French, Logan Laughlin, Max Salazar, Sheldon Pugh, Tristan Browning, and Zachary Diaz. They are coached by head coach Jason Diaz and assistant coaches Michael Laughlin, Scott Browning and Gabe Jimenez.
