Lanier hosts Mountain View on Senior Night at the Ranch

It was a neck and neck game until Mountain View pulled ahead of host Lanier in the third quarter going into the fourth quarter on Friday night at the Ranch in Sugar Hill.  Lanier tried to get their first win of the season on their Senior Night but was ultimately beat by Mountain View 28-20.

Lanier (0-2) was the first team to get points on the scoreboard as senior quarterback Carson Thomas connected with fellow senior Keller Hartl for a 34-yard touchdown pass in the first quarter putting Lanier up 7-0 over Mountain View.

Mountain View (2-1) answered back in the second quarter with a 59-yard touchdown pass from Mason Kidd to Sean Reese to tie the game up at 7-7 going into halftime.

Coming back from halftime, the Longhorns once again scored first on a 21-yard touchdown pass from Thomas to Reese Scott giving Lanier the lead 14-7. Scott would end the night as Lanier’s top receiver with four catches for 73 yards.

The Lions turned around and cranked out two touchdowns both rushing touchdowns of two and 20 yards to put Mountain View on top 21-14 going into the fourth quarter.

Lanier almost tied the game up when running back Bryan Williams rushed for 6 yards for the touchdown, however, a missed PAT kept them from an even game. Mountain View would remain on top 21-20. Williams rushed 17 times for 90 yards for the Longhorns during the game.

Mountain View would score their final touchdown of the game in the fourth quarter with 8:38 left on the clock. Kidd would once again connect with Reese, this time for a 63-yard touchdown pass to put the Lions up 28-20. Lanier wasn’t able to get into the end zone again giving Mountain View the win.

Thomas completed 9 of 18 passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns.
