Lanier Islands to host Halloween murder mystery weekend

Three-day experience will feature hidden clues, suspicious characters, meals and overnight accommodations

BUFORD — Lanier Islands Resort will add a little mystery to Halloween weekend this year with a three-day interactive murder mystery experience Oct. 30 through Nov. 1.

The resort’s Murder Mystery Weekend, produced by Keith & Margo’s Murder Mystery Nationwide, will invite guests to become part of a fictional investigation filled with hidden clues, suspicious characters and unexpected twists.

The weekend package combines the interactive mystery with overnight accommodations, cocktail receptions and meals prepared by the resort’s culinary team.

“We love that our Murder Mystery Weekend aligns with Halloween, adding an undeniable air of whimsy to our who-dun-it,” Lanier Islands Resort President Matthew Bowling said. “In addition to enhancing our fall event calendar in a frightfully fun way, this event provides a cool twist on your typical date weekend.”

Bowling said guests will also have time between portions of the mystery to take advantage of other resort amenities, including Tranquility Spa, lakeside trails and outdoor firepits.

The mystery begins Friday, Oct. 30, with check-in at 3 p.m. followed by a 7 p.m. cocktail reception. During the reception, hidden impostors, mysterious clues and unexpected developments will launch the weekend-long investigation.

On Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, guests will receive new evidence during breakfast before the investigation takes another turn at lunch. The mystery continues that evening with a cocktail party and dinner.

The investigation concludes Sunday, Nov. 1, when participants gather for brunch and learn whether they successfully identified the culprit before the lead detective reveals the murderer.

The package is priced at $599 per person based on double occupancy, plus applicable taxes and resort fees. It includes two nights of accommodations, the three-day interactive experience, Friday’s welcome reception with hors d’oeuvres, three meals and a cocktail party Saturday, and Sunday brunch.

Alcoholic beverages are not included in the package price, and a cash bar will be available Friday and Saturday.

Meals will be prepared by the Lanier Islands culinary team led by Director of Operations Nishant Chaudhary and Executive Chef Whitney Okula.

Reservations are required.

Lanier Islands Resort is located at 7000 Lanier Islands Parkway in Buford. Additional information and reservations are available through Lanier Islands Resort or by calling 770-945-8787.
