SNELLVILLE — The Lanier varsity softball team was on the road on Thursday taking on fellow Region 8-AAAAAA opponent Shiloh.  Junior Lauren Cothern and senior Carly Forrester team up on the mound to earn Lanier the win over Shiloh with a score of 17-8.

Cothern pitched for 2.1 innings giving up one earned run and two hits while striking out two.  Forrester would take over and pitch for 3.2 innings in which she had three earned runs on four hits.  She would strike out five of Shiloh’s batters.

Sophomore Sara Byrum was 3-for-4 on the night earning two RBIs for the Longhorns’ offense.  Senior Payton Franklin was 1-for-2 at the plate hitting a double and was walked three times.  She earned three RBIs against the Generals. Cothern went 2-for-5 where she hit a home run and earned four RBIs for Lanier.

Lanier improves to 11-12 overall and is 4-7 in Region 8-AAAAAA.

Lanier has a region game on Monday, Oct. 5 at 5 p.m. at home against Dacula.
