NAPLES, FL. — The best of the best football players in Gwinnett County’s Gwinnett Football League (GFL) are in Naples, Florida to compete in the Football University (FBU) National Championships.
The GFL has kids competing in the 10U, 7th-grade and 8th-grade division championship games on Tuesday, Dec. 22. The 10U championship game will be at 10 a.m. with the GFL team competing against either Indiana or South Florida. The 7th-grade championship game will be at 5 p.m. with the GFL team competing against Dallas. The final game of the FBU National Championships will be the 8th-grade championship game with the GFL competing against Kentucky at 7:30 p.m.
This year is the 10th year that the GFL has made an appearance at the FBU National Championships. The GFL 6th-grade and 7th-grade teams have each won championship titles in 2018 and 2019. The 8th-grade GFL teams have won championship titles in 2012, 2013 and 2017. Longtime GFL and Buford youth coach Ken Burge is the tournament’s all-time winningest coach.
