Approximately 30 police cars and other first responder vehicles were on scene.

Police took the suspect into custody at just after 10 p.m. after an almost four-hour-long standoff.  I was on the scene and heard a loud bang.  I do not have it confirmed but I think it was a flash grenade.  SWAT sent in a robot that a witness said they saw it going down the street, into the residence, and could see it moving around inside of the home.  It wasn’t long after that when we received word that the suspect was taken into custody.  I received official word that he was in custody at 10:30 p.m.

From sources who know the family, they simply cannot understand how this happened.  That this is highly uncharacteristic of the family.  Our thoughts are with this family right now.

Majority of the police and first responders have left the scene.  A big thank you to our law enforcement who were in the freezing temps for four hours tonight.

ORIGINAL:

Police responded to a domestic dispute on Snowy Orchid Drive in the Arbor Clos subdivision in Sugar Hill this evening.  From our understanding, a man was inside his home with his parents.  The domestic dispute broke out, cops were called.  The parents made it out of the house safely but the man is still inside the residence.

SWAT is on scene trying to get the man to turn himself in.

Rumors swirling said that he had a gun and had his parents hostage.  Gwinnett Police said the parents are safe and that there was no mention of a gun or shots fired.

We will update you as soon as we know more.
