LAWRENCEVILLE — A Lawrenceville man was killed while trying to cross Buford Drive in front of Coolray Field on the night of August 4. Investigators with the Gwinnett County Police Department are investigating the incident.
Benjamin Phenix, age 35 was attempting to cross Buford Drive at its intersection with Braves Avenue at 10:04 p.m. on Tuesday when he was struck by a vehicle traveling down Buford Drive.
According to police, Phenix was fatally injured and passed away at the accident scene.
“The accident will be investigated by the department’s Accident Investigation Unit. The investigators are asking any witnesses to come forward if they saw Phenix before the accident,” Corporal Collin Flynn with the Gwinnett County Police Department said in a statement issued on Wednesday afternoon.
