BUFORD — A recent verbal dispute at a local gas station escalated into a physical assault, with a suspect reportedly pulling a gun on a victim, according to a Gwinnett County Police Department report.
The male victim told police he had pulled into a parking space at the gas station and was retrieving his wallet from his vehicle with his driver’s side door open when another vehicle, a black Mercedes, attempted to pull into a parking space next to him, almost striking his car. The man told police he put his arms into the air and began speaking to the female driver, who began yelling back. The verbal dispute moved inside the store, where the victim said the woman was on FaceTime with someone asking that they “come up to the store to take care of him.”
The victim told police he left the store with his purchases, taking note of the tag number on the woman’s car, and was sitting at a red light on Buford Highway waiting to turn left when another vehicle, a dark gray Kia Soul, pulled up to the driver’s side of his vehicle blocking the adjacent lane of travel. A male passenger in the vehicle reportedly jumped out of the car, opened the victim’s vehicle door and began punching the victim in the chest.
The victim reported that while he was being assaulted, the male driver of the vehicle had a small, black handgun pointed at him. The victim said the driver asked if he “wanted to die today.”
When the passenger stopping hitting the victim, the man was able to turn left and leave the scene of the incident.
The victim told police he returned to the Texaco gas station where he was approached by a witness who advised him to call law enforcement. The witness told police he saw the assault occur but did not see a handgun.
Using the Mercedes’ tag number, the responding officer located the vehicle at a residence near the gas station, as well as a dark gray Kia Soul. The officer did not approach the residents because the officer did not have enough information or clothing descriptions to identify the suspects.
