GAINESVILLE — A heavy law enforcement presence is underway near Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville on Tuesday as police investigate a reported bomb threat in the vicinity of the hospital.

The Gainesville Police Department confirmed officers were responding to the area and conducting safety sweeps with personnel, police dogs and other safety equipment.

Northeast Georgia Health System announced that all appointments at NGMC Gainesville and Longstreet Clinic’s Gainesville location scheduled for Tuesday have been canceled until further notice.

The investigation remains active, and authorities have not announced whether any explosive device has been located.
