Every day, students are taught the essential subjects they need for a standardized education; Reading, Writing, Math, Science, and Social Studies. Often at times, students are told that these subjects are the only ones that will help them in the future. Ms. Martha “Deanne” Manotas, is Roberts Elementary School’s Teacher of the Year. Instead of textbooks and worksheets, Ms. Manotas helps students explore their inner creativity through art. This is her 13th year as an art teacher in Gwinnett County. “My favorite part of teaching is encouraging the students’ creativity and diversity through Art. It is amazing to see the talent each child brings to his/her projects. I get to teach my favorite artists! (Martha “Deanne” Manotas)”. The arts are just as important to a child’s growth and development as other subjects and Ms. Manotas is always dedicated to bringing out the best in her students, both on paper and off.
