North Gwinnett Middle presents ‘Frozen Jr.’

The drama department at North Gwinnett Middle School will present three live performances of “Frozen, Jr.” at the North Gwinnett High School Theatre this weekend as its fall show.

The stage adaptation of the popular Disney animated musical “Frozen” is arranged for younger, developing voices (hence, the “junior” add-on) in youth theater.

Under the direction of NGMS Theatre Arts Director Traci Davison, 40 students will take the stage tomorrow night, playing some of their favorite childhood characters from the iconic movie. In her seventh year at NGMS, Davison said the troupe will also take a 15-minute cut version of their performance to the nationally celebrated Junior Theatre Festival in January 2022 in Atlanta.

When asked what it felt like to get to play the role of Elsa, Sapna Annambhotla said, “It is magical! For Halloween one year, I was Elsa and my friend was Anna! It’s like a dream come true!”

Student Milan Bartley (who will play one of the Oaken Family Characters as well as an Ice Dancer) said, “I love that our cast has become a family during this show!”

Davison and her students invite you to join Elsa, Anna and the rest of their cast family for an entertaining night of theater. Opening night will be Friday, Nov. 5 at 7 p.m., with two additional shows at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6.

Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for students and seniors and are available online at www.showtix4u.com.
