SOFTBALL

COLUMBUS — The North Gwinnett varsity softball team battled their way out of the elimination bracket on Saturday to make it to the finals in the GHSA Class AAAAAAA State Championships.  They faced a tough East Coweta team in the finals.

North would win game one 7-2 over East Coweta to force a game two.  The Bulldogs would come up just shy in the second game as East Coweta took the game and the title with a final score of 2-1.

In game one against East Coweta, the Bulldogs would have 11 hits with two of those being home runs by Jaylyn Benson and Marisa Miller.  Benson was 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Miller was 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

North Gwinnett softball ends their season with an overall record of 33-8.

VOLLEYBALL

MARIETTA — North Gwinnett’s volleyball team traveled to play Walton on Saturday in the GHSA Class AAAAAAA State Semi-Finals.  Walton would take this match 3-0 ending the Bulldogs dreams of a state title.

Walton put up set scores of 25-15, 25-22, 25-14 against North Gwinnett.

North Gwinnett ends their season with an overall record of 30-7.
