North Gwinnett swimmer Ella Waters commits to Missouri

SUWANEE, Ga. — North Gwinnett High School Class of 2027 swimmer Ella Waters has announced her verbal commitment to continue her academic and athletic career at the University of Missouri.

Waters, a rising senior who competes year-round for SwimAtlanta, announced her decision Thursday.

“Beyond excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and swimming career at the University of Missouri,” Waters said. “I’m so thankful to God for His blessings and for opening this door for me.”

Waters placed sixth in both the 200-yard freestyle and 500 freestyle at the Class AAAAAA state championships, recording times of 1 minute, 55.35 seconds and 5:09.76, respectively.

At the Gwinnett County championships, Waters finished second in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 100 backstroke.

Waters thanked her family, coaches, teammates and others who supported her throughout the recruiting process. She specifically recognized SwimAtlanta coaches Chris Davis Sr., Chris Davis Jr. and Scott Hildebrand for their roles in her development.

“I’m especially grateful to Coach Grevers, Coach Kate and the entire Mizzou coaching staff for believing in me and giving me this incredible opportunity,” Waters said. “Go Tigers!”

Missouri competes in the Southeastern Conference.
