Hall County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call about a body in the water around 9:30 a.m. at Aqualand Marina on Lake Lanier on December 31, 2017.
Upon arrival, Hall County recovered the body of 58 year-old John Lawrence Stanford, of Conyers. Mr. Stanford had been staying on a friend’s boat at Aqualand. The owner of the boat is the person who found Mr. Stanford’s body in the water. Other tenants in the area report having seen the victim yesterday afternoon.
The Sheriff’s Department stated that there were no obvious signs of trauma. At this time, foul play is not suspected. Mr. Stanford’s remains have been sent to the Dekalb County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
This case remains under investigation by Hall County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Division.
