BUFORD 39 CARVER-ATLANTA 6
On Friday night, Buford hosted Carver-Atlanta and celebrated their football, sideline cheer, band, Colorguard, and cross country seniors. Seniors and their parents were recognized before the game began in a short ceremony.
Buford’s offense was strong but it was their defensive line that was working like a well-oiled machine against Carver-Atlanta. Carver-Atlanta only managed 33 yards which came from 34 yards rushing and minus one for passing.
Junior running back Victor Venn led the Wolves offensively rushing for 89 yards on eight carries. He scored two touchdowns for Buford (1-1). Buford’s offense racked up 228 rushing yards and 19 passing yards.
Senior Gabe Ervin Jr., Venn and sophomore Christian Butler each had first-half touchdowns. Malik Spencer ran in the two-point conversion and Alex Mata had a 40-yard field goal in the first half to put Buford up 25-0.
In the third quarter, Venn added a 43-yard touchdown to the board. Senior Mason McCranie recovered a Panther fumble and returned it three yards for the touchdown.
Buford will host Clarke Central next Friday, Sept. 25 for Homecoming Night. Game starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets must be purchased on Go Fan. Seats are limited.
