SUGAR HILL — The Lanier Longhorns hosted the Dutchtown Bulldogs at the Ranch on Senior Night. It was a battle of the defensive lines with both sides being fairly well matched. It wasn’t until the final minutes of the game that Lanier was able to put points on the board beating Dutchtown 5-0.
Mason Mancilla’s second field goal attempt of the night which came at the 4:11 mark in the fourth quarter would be good unlike his first attempt in the first half. His kick would secure Lanier the win over Dutchtown. Lanier wasn’t satisfied and scored a safety on the next drive.
While Lanier’s offense wasn’t at their best, their defense really held firm and was able to keep Dutchtown at bay. It will be interesting to see how this team develops over the course of the season.
