LAWRENCEVILLE — North Gwinnett started the game off with a bang against Discovery. In the opening kickoff, North Gwinnett’s Brinston Williams received the ball but instead of running it in himself, he tossed a lateral to D.J. Hart. Hart would run the ball in for an 81-yard touchdown.
That touchdown was just one of many in North’s 52-0 shutout of Discovery.
Along with the 81-yard touchdown from Hart in the first quarter, J.R. Martin would connect with Bobby Ezzard for a 6-yard touchdown pass. Josh Downs would receive two of Martin’s passes. Those two passes were for a combined 38 yards and two touchdowns. North (4-1, 1-0) wasn’t finished with Discovery (1-4, 0-1) yet in the first quarter. North cornerback Jordan Hancock would have a 36-yard interception return for a touchdown to end the first quarter with North putting 35 points on the board.
Josh Cabalquinto would score another touchdown for North in the second quarter on a six-yard blocked punt return. Senior Andrew Lim would add a completed 20-yard field goal to bring North’s point tally to 45 to Discovery’s 0.
Junior Corbin Hood added the only points for either side in the second half when he ran the ball in for a 23-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. This would give North the 52-0 win over their host Discovery.
Lim was 7-for-7 on PATs and had a successful 20-yard field goal for the Bulldogs.
