HOSCHTON — No. 8 Mill Creek hosted No. 7 North Gwinnett on Friday night, October 11. The Bulldogs dominated Mill Creek with a 45-3 win.
North (6-1, 3-0) capitalized on four turnovers by Mill Creek (5-2, 2-1) in the second half. The Bulldogs turned three of those four turnovers into quick touchdowns.
Offensively for North, quarterback J.R. Martin had a solid performance passing for 199 yards with 11 out of 18 passes completed, scored two touchdowns, and threw for two more touchdowns. Devin Crosby would rush for 128 yards and two touchdowns. Josh Downs would score on an 8-yard pass from Martin and D.J. Hart also got a touchdown on a 13-yard pass. North’s kicker Andrew Lim would make good a 42-yard field goal and completed 6 out of 6 PATs.
The Bulldogs’ defensive line was formidable on Friday night allowing the Hawks to complete only 3 out of 18 passes for a mere 20 yards. Austin Wainright, Taylor Goodson, and Corbin Hood each had interceptions for North. Jared Ivey got two sacks against Mill Creek which led to his teammate William Long picking it up and running to the Mill Creek 4-yard line. On the next play, Martin scored for North.
North Gwinnett will host Collins Hill in a region game on Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m.
