Staff Reports
Officers with Gwinnett County Police Department responded to a report of a stolen vehicle Sunday evening at the Planet Fitness located off Buford Drive.
The victim told officers that he arrived at the gym around 3 p.m. He said that he placed his belongings, including his keys, in a locker upon arriving. When the victim returned to the locker to retrieve his things an hour later he found that his keys were gone and his car had been stolen.
The vehicle is a 2015 black Honda Civic, Georgia tag CCH6004.
This is the second vehicle stolen from the gym within the past week. Last Thursday, a woman reported that her keys were also stolen during her workout at Planet Fitness.
The victim said that she had received texts from her credit card company reporting suspicious activity on her account less than an hour after her arrival. After seeing the messages she remembered her wallet was in her vehicle, which prompted her to check the wall for her keys. Upon finding that her keys had been stolen, she checked the parking lot to find her vehicle gone.
After checking her accounts, the victim stated that there were seperate transactions of the same amount made at a local Kroger in the sum of $505 each, as well as $1000 in purchases on her Amazon account.
The vehicle in this case is a 1998 Green Honda Civic, Georgia tag AWX7559.
There have been multiple reported thefts from lockers at this location in the past year. Most reports show that the items stolen were not properly secured inside of lockers as the gym suggests for the safety of their members..
