The Players Guild at Sugar Hill will stage a production of “It’s a Wonderful Life” in November, and the theater group is holding auditions to cast roles in the show.
General auditions, which consist of prepared readings from the script, will be held Monday, Aug. 7, followed by callbacks on Tuesday, Aug. 8, in Sugar Hill. The specific location will be shared in a confirmation email with those who sign up online to audition. All roles are non-paid.
The Players Guild shared this synopsis for the show:
“Written by Robert Ford, this live adaption brings Frank Capra’s film to the stage. The story follows George Bailey, who puts his dreams on hold to take over the family business and marry his high school sweetheart—only to see his life’s work threatened by the unscrupulous magnate Mr. Potter, who will stop at nothing to take over the Bailey Building and Loan. As George stands drunk on a highway bridge on Christmas Eve, wishing he’d never been born, a mysterious stranger plummets to the waves and sets in motion a sequence of events that is nothing short of miraculous. For 65 years, critics have hailed ‘It’s a Wonderful Life’ as a remarkable tale of redemption and old-fashioned holiday magic, reminding even the cynics among us that there’s much to be treasured in life.”
The Players Guild is seeking performers who can play multiple roles. Roles available include:
- Male 1 — George Bailey and others
- Male 2 — Potter, Clarence, and others
- Male 3 — Uncle Billy and others
- Young male — Young George and others
- Female 1 — Mary and others
- Female 2 — Violet, Mrs. Bailey, and others

Rehearsals will begin Monday, Sept. 11, and will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Performances will run weekends from Friday, Nov. 3, through Sunday, November 12.
